Our Family Support Officers can offer their time to parents and carers who have specific concerns about their children or who maybe just need a little extra help themselves.
With many years of combined experience working with families and children with additional needs, they offer information and advice in these areas and beyond, including:
- Providing information, support, and advice to enable parents to have confidence to deal with issues around their child’s education and wellbeing.
- Support in making a parental application for an Education Health Care Plan Needs Assessment.
- Supporting parents who are seeking to obtain a diagnosis for their child or who need help with a referral.
- Providing (or signposting to) specific training and support so parents have a better understanding of their children’s condition.
- Supporting parents to apply for disability specific benefits for their children i.e. DLA or PIP.
- Providing information and support regarding other services that is available in their area.
You can also speak to a Family Support Officer and connect with other parents at one of our regular parent/carer support groups – Space 2 Talk or Drop-In Support Sessions
